X-RAY SYSTEM
Laser owns a modern X-Ray machine for the inspection of devices even of large size. This allows making very interesting process controls, deeply accurate and targeted to an improvement of the production cycle, in all its phases. This analysis technique is also applied to the different assembling technologies of the electronic components, such as the SMD and PTH. This equipment, particularly – due to a 160 KV tube with a 750nm resolution – is able to verify the physical features of the butt joints in the cards analysing their quality, the inter-metal compounds, the Void percentage. It will also provide the failure analysis of the components, Wire-Bond and Die Attach further to the specific analysis of BGA and Flip-chip. In addition, final assembled pieces can be analysed, also those covered by resin, that couldn’t be inspected with other techniques. According to the customer’s request, a wide photographic or non- photographic documentation may be given, together with a document reporting all the tests and analysis carried out by the technical staff.
Optical Inspection System: AOI
Laser owns an Optical inspection System made by Cyberoptics KSFlex. It makes possible to carry out very accurate and detailed inspections of the electronic boards manufactured by Laser. It can be used to control the production process or as a visual testing for each piece of production. Its level of accuracy is very high (it reads each single component, verifies colours, etc.) and accuracy may be modulated according to the customer’s requirement. The products subjected to this kind of testing are all identified and catalogued. Then, a following working station, conveniently connected to the inspection system, will take the corrective action.
Climatic Room
The climatic room, very large, allows qualifying the results of the Laser project or of its production. In fact, it can contain a considerable number of devices. It is possible to make tests from -50°C up to 150°C, checking the level of humidity as well. It is possible to make repetitive working cycles requiring different levels of temperature and humidity. Using proper connections, it is possible to make tests supplied and monitored by external instrumentation.
ATE System
With this Tecnost TEC4000 System, it is possible to make final ‘In-Circuit’ type and functional testing. It means that it is possible to make controls of all the components assembled on the side of the card or to check – by a proper adjustment of the ATE itself – the board functionality, stimulating it with an opportune instrumentation, internal or external to the System. To make this kind of final testing it is necessary to make a fixture, also with very thin and sophisticated contacts. Many times it is necessary to fix a contact in the higher part of the card: so it will be blocked between two layers of conductive needles that will bring their signals to the boards connected with the machine’s computer. The testing software will be developed on it and it will properly pilot the input towards the board and will collect the feedback in order to evaluate the correct functioning of the board itself.
Automatic system for PAINTING: PVA
Laser owns a machine for the automatic distribution of paints, resins and glues, named PVA. This equipment makes the Conformal Coating on the electronic products. It is so possible to apply protective paints on the products in a very accurate way, both referring to the area and the thickness of the material applied. This treatment preserves electronics from the environment in which it is used (humidity, dusts, ect.) and increases the electric insulation then the reliability of the product. PVA, supported by a sophisticated control programme, located on a personal computer, allows to define very precise areas of intervention and to computerise, with many repetitions, the application in production. By this same machine, it is possible to apply filling resins or gaskets on the edge of the cases according to the customer’s specifications.
REWORK System
Laser owns a Rework Station by Weller, with which it is possible to make any kind of rework also in complex components. Particularly, it is possible to unweld and weld again components in BGA case and micro BGA, following precise and repeat heating characteristics, made and stored in the personal computer connected with the machine. It is also possible to mount some samples or some pre-series of the products in a very precise way and in times not obtainable otherwise. With this machine we can guarantee to our customers a full service, including the possible repair of the product, so that they can save time and money (on request, we can add the X-Ray Inspection to identify and solve more complex malfunctions).
